Scripture Reading
2 Peter 1:5
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge
with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly
affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being
ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Devotional Content:

One of the biggest misunderstandings about faith is that having small faith is enough. Though Matthew 17:20 clearly explains the power of faith in its smallest form, to use this scripture as a basis for thinking that God is satisfied with our faith being small is simply wrong. God gives every man a measure of faith, and with that measure, even at its smallest form, you can indeed move mountains. However, God never expected your faith to remain the measure in which it was sown into you. Just like the farmer who plants the mustard seed, God has an expectation of a greater return on His investment made in you.  He expects your faith to grow. What God sows as a seed, you are to cultivate and make investments in until it becomes a mature tree of fruitfulness and effectiveness in Christ. To give any seed back to God in the same measure it was given to you is wicked.

To this end, God expects you to supplement your faith. You are to add to the faith God has invested in you. In the original Greek the word supplement or add means to furnish. Faith that does not mature is similar to the house in which there is no furniture. It can be lived in, but it will not be very comfortable. Don't be the person who is satisfied with where they are in their faith. Faith that refuses to grow will ultimately become empty and void of true comfort.

Purpose to cultivate the seed of faith God has given you. Take time today to make an investment in things that grow you spiritually and cause you to look more like Jesus! Determine to GROW!

Have an Impactful Day!

Today’s Challenge:

  1. What time can you reprioritize towards investing in your faith?

  2. Who do you know in your life who models increasing faith? How have they modeled it?

  3. What area of your life have you settled for not growing? Why?

Faith Declaration:

I declare that my faith is ever increasing. As my faith increases, I will become more effective in my spiritual walk. I will abound in the fruit that comes from it! In Jesus' Name. Amen.
