Devotional Content:

Paul teaches in Philippians 2:5 that the goal of the believer is to operate with the mind of Christ. At all times you are to strive to think and act like Jesus. Just as Christ fully reflected the mind and character of His Father, so too should we reflect His. In the beginning this will be a challenge for you because it will force you to practice a level of thinking that is contrary to your natural mind. You will have to choose to abandon carnal logic and be obedient to divine instructions

God loves you so much that He wants to be involved in every aspect of your life. The plans that He has for you are so great that He asks that you consciously take time to acknowledge Him before doing anything. The word acknowledge in the Hebrew is the word yada' which translates to know Him. Before you do anything in life, God asks that you know His mind for the particular area you are about to move. He desires so strongly for you to know His mind and His will that He has promised to give it to you generously if you would only ask for it (James 1:5). He assures you in Matthew 7:7  that the seeker would find Him and the one who knocked would be greeted with an open door. The question is, will you take the time to acknowledge Him?

If you answer yes to this question, the second question then becomes will you choose to renew your mind to the instructions He gives you?  Adding virtue to your faith is a process of raising your level of thinking to the standard of God's Word. It is more than just being obedient to fulfill a requirement. It is an actual transformation of your belief system. John 1:14 declares "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us."  This is the very picture of adding virtue. The Word of God has to be more than just typed pages in a book. It has to become flesh. Acknowledgement of God has to be more than a quest for information. It has to become a quest to embody the divine nature of Christ.  Virtue is not something you do. Virtue is who you are!

Have an Impactful Day!

Today’s Challenge:

  1. In what ways can you be more intentional about acknowledging God?

  2. Has there ever been a time when you leaned to your own understanding? How did that work out?

  3. What area of your life have you conformed to the patterns of the world rather than be transformed by God's Word?

LORD, Help me to be transformed by the truth of Your Word! Grant me the grace to know Your mind. Give me the faith to be transformed by it! In Jesus Name. Amen.
