2 Peter 1:3-4
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called
us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through

Devotional Content:

When you gave your life to Christ, you instantly became the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It is not that you became righteous based on your own doing. You became righteous through Christ's sacrificial love. Christ died that you might become a partaker of His Divine nature. It is through that divine nature that He now calls you to embrace and live accordingly.

2 Peter 1:2 states that God's divine power or Theios has given you everything you need for life and godliness. Theios is a Greek Word that refers to the Holy Trinity (God The Father, God The Son - Jesus, and God The Holy Spirit). This is incredible when you think about it! You have not just been given a greater degree of human strength and potential. You have been granted the unlimited, unequaled, all sufficient power presence of The Great I AM! Even as the fullness of God dwelt in Christ bodily (Colossians 2:9), through faith and obedience, you now have the same potential. You not only have the ability to be a better version of you, you possess the ability and the right through Christ to be the full measure of Christ's stature and excellence.

Now, as you begin to aspire to this higher level of excellence, the devil will continually attempt to remind you of the weakness of your old nature. He will accuse you of past wrong, as if what you once did defines who you are now. But, it is always imperative that you combat the enemy's lies with the Truth of God's Word. You are a NEW CREATION in Christ Jesus, and you are no longer bound by the nature you died to. Even more importantly, you are no longer bound by the nature that Christ died to set you free from. The old man has passed away, and all has been made new. Stop regarding yourself according to an old/dead nature. Regard yourself by the glorified excellence Christ granted and grace you to walk in.

Yes, I know what you are thinking... "What if I mess up?" First: stop expecting to mess up! Learn to live with the expectation of victory. You've got this! You have all you need for life and godliness. But, even if you happen to fall short, simply repent and move forward. The same grace God has granted you to walk in excellence, He has also been given as an invitation to reconciliation. No one, other than Jesus, has ever perfected walking in God's divine nature. So chances are, you will fall at some point. The key is that you don't stay down. Learn to forget what is behind you, and press on to excellence.

As you prepare to face the next day, know that you are a carrier of God's divine nature. Choose to embrace that nature. Know that you don't have to yield to a nature that you died to and that Christ died to deliver you from.

Have an Impactful Day!

Today’s Challenge:

  1. What area of your life do you need to believe you are sufficient in Christ for victory?

  2. What area of your life do you need to redefine according to your divine nature?

"LORD, I thank You for the grace to see myself according to the Divine Nature you have granted to me.  I thank You for Your forgiveness for every time I have fallen short of Your standard, and I choose today to move forward in faith with the full expectation of walking in the light of Your glory and excellence. In Jesus' Name. Amen!"
